The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Tuesday, August 4, has set out rules and guidelines that could lead to the Resumption of academic Activities in Nigeria Universities.

Speaking at a Press Briefing in Abuja, the NUC’s Executive Secretary , Abubakar Rasheed says, “a reasonable number of Vice-chancellors has submitted reports on the level of their readiness and preparedness to the Commission”. He further stated that the process when completed, could either direct Universities to resume or otherwise.

Abubakar Rasheed who spoke thorough the Commission’s Deputy Executive Secretary, Academics, Dr. Suilamon Yusuf at the Media Conference organised to evaluate the response of Nigeria Universities to the Covid-19 Pandemic, pitifully disclosed that the proposed Resumption could be staggered, for Public institutions by the lingering ASUU Strike.

It would be noted that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, recently, vehemently opposed any plan by the Federal Government to open Universities, tagging it a “trap for the Students and Staff”
