Jay Jay Okocha was born in Enugu State on August 14, 1973, but his parents are from Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State. Augustine comes from a football-obsessed family. His elder brother, James, a footballer who goes by the name Jay Jay, gave him the name Jay Jay Okocha. Following that, his younger brother, Emmanuel, began playing for the Nigeria national team. Emmanuel was also known as Emma-Jay Jay, but the name eventually stuck with Okocha. Not only that, but Okocha’s nephew, Alex Iwobi, plays for Arsenal and Nigeria.
