ENDSARS: NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT IDENTIFYS WITH THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE OVER LOSS OF PERSONNEL AND PROPERTY
The State Government through a delegation headed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor Ibrahim Balarabe, commiserated with the Nigeria Police at the State Headquarters of the Force in Minna, over the loss of many Police Personnel and some of their stations in some parts of the country as a result of the recent ENDSARS protest hijacked by hoodlums.
Niger State Government has sympathised and condemned all acts of brutality melted on civilians and personnel of the Nigerian Police Force in some parts of the country.
He explained that the delegation was sent by the executive council members of the state to identify and sympathise with the police over the unfortunate incident witnessed in the country recently.
The State Government noted that the unfortunate incident in some States of the Federation is condemnable stressing that the State is against any form of brutality either to civilians or Police personnel charged with the responsibility of maintaining law and other.
“Both the civilians and the security personnel have had their share of harassment and brutality and we want to identify with the police over the ugly incident.
“Alot of personnel have lost their lives in their line of duty while ensuring peace and order across the country,” he said.
The State Government called on the Police personnel to take advantage of the judicial panel of inquiry step up by the State Government to investigate all forms and cases of brutality both on the Police and civilians as they are also allowed to present their cases of brutality to the Panel of inquiry.
The Government enjoined the police not to allow their morales to be dampened by the incident but to see it as an opportunity to be more patriotic in carrying out their constitutional responsibility adding that government would continue to accord them all the needed support.
Responding, the Commissioner of Police Niger State Command Mr Adamu Usman, appreciated the State Government for identifying with the Police Force pointing out that the visit speaks volume of the State Government’s concern about the well being of the Men and Officers of the Nigerian Police Force.
He expressed optimism that with the terms of reference of the judicial panel of inquiry for both civilians and the Police to report cases of brutality, justice will be done to all victims.
“It shows that the police is being taken along and we will continue to give our maximum support in providing security for residents of the state,” he said.
