Aper Aku Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. Construction of the stadium was initiated by the Second Republic governor Aper Aku, which the stadium was named after him. The 100% Natural Geo Technology Pitch was constructed by Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Ltd.
It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of the Lobi Stars. Aper Aku Stadium has a capacity of 15,000 people. It was recently renovated to host the 2007 Nigerian FA Cup final.
It is a great Stadium in Makurdi – the home of the Star team “Lobi Stars” of the Nigerian Professional Football League. Good for events, sports, and a whole lot of other public activities, especially recreational activities.
Recently, politicians have used is as political campaign grounds, with both President Muhammadu Buhari (APC) and Alh Atiku Abubakar (PDP), using it as the venue for their campaigns when they visited the State for the 2019 General Elections.
The stadium got a major upgrade by the then Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam to restore the stadium to its great days and return Lobi Stars F.C. to their home turf to meet the CAF standard for the CAF Champions session in 2018.
